Wedding
Attendants
Now
choosing your wedding
attendants can be
the most important part of planning your wedding.
There
are a few things to consider before
you even begin to start asking people.
As
being asked to be a wedding attendant is
a special honor and there are responsibilities that go with it, you
need to
have a good idea of what you wish each attendant to do for you, how
they will
be involved.
If
is customary to ask your brothers and
sisters, close relatives and best friends.
As
there will be costs involved for the
wedding attendants then this has to be considered too, things like the
wedding
attire, travel, accommodation, the pre-wedding parties like the wedding
shower,
bachelorette/bachelor nights.
You
need your attendants to be reliable, to
know you can depend on them.
This is
how you will have a stress free day.
No
matter how lovely some people are and how well your relationship with
them is,
some people just have very busy lives with maybe small children, work
commitments etc. When
you explain what
you will need from them leading up to the day and on the wedding day,
they will
realize how it may not work for them.
They
can still be involved in some way,
like helping at the ceremony by handing out the programs or ushering
guests to their
seats, maybe a reading and helping with the guests seating at the
reception. There is
always much to do,
so if the costs are too much for a close friend or your friend has too
busy a
life, then there will be a way to include them and make them feel
special.
Choosing
your wedding attendants can be a
very delicate operation so you don’t want to tread on any
toes or have friends
getting upset. Let
them know “you”
won’t be offended if they can’t be your attendant,
you understand their
situation.
There
is another thing to consider and that
is, don’t choose your attendants too soon.
You need to have a really good idea of what
you want at your
wedding. Some close
friends or even
family, can be very dominating and while it is your wedding, they may
try to
influence you to what they would like at their wedding.
So always keep in mind, it is
“your” wedding
not your wedding attendants.
Something
else to consider is how the
bridal party will look in the photographs.
Your wedding photographer can help you
there. So when you
meet with the person who is going to take care of
your wedding photos, ask a few questions about the way they will be
positioning
the wedding attendants
for the photos.
