Your Wedding Planning Made Easy

Wedding Videographer

Wedding Videographer.

Like your wedding photographer, your wedding videographer is so very important.  It is also very important that the two will be able to work together.

Just because Uncle Charlie has just bought the latest and greatest in video cameras, don’t be tempted to ‘save’ money if you want a memorable video of the wedding day.  The professionals know how to do it right.

There are things like
  • Where they will be videoing from during the ceremony? You don’t want them right in your face.
  • What about the lighting, the reception may have mood lighting, do they have the right equipment to cater for that?
  • What type of cameras, microphones and lighting they will be using?
  • What type of editing equipment?
  • How long will the tape be?
  • Do they use DVD as well as tape?
  • Will there be music added?  And who provides it? and who chooses it?
  • Is there a cost for extra videos or DVDs or are some included in the package?
  • If you wish, can you get a copy of the un-edited master? And how much do they charge for this? (This is like the full set of proofs from the photographer)

Many of the questions you asked the wedding photographer, you will ask the videographer too.

A good videographer will be able to tell you how they will shoot your wedding both at the ceremony and the reception.  They should be almost invisible and not take center stage with the directing.  They should be able to let everything flow and video the happenings without any directing.

One of the main reasons for having a professional wedding videographer and not Uncle Charlie is the finished product.  The editing of the video is so very important, ask the videographer to explain how they will do this and in terms you can understand.  This is where the magic of the day will be, in the finished video.

Ask if you can see some example videos of other weddings they have done.

Working with the wedding photographer is so very important also.  Find out how they will coordinate with each other.

It is a good idea to find out if the videographer can attend the ceremony rehearsal and if this is included in the price.

Insurance is another important factor, are they insured and what is their coverage?

You will want to know if they have a contract and list the services they provide.
Things like the deposit required and what is the cancellation or postponement policy.

It is best to get written quotes so you can compare each videographer you visit.

I’m sure you never thought when you said, “Yes” to the marriage proposal, that there would be so many things to think of and so many questions to ask.

If you have decided on your theme, then let the videographer and the photographer know.  Also where the ceremony will be, where the reception will be and what type of wedding cars or vehicles you will be using.

Once you make all the decisions for how, when, where and what you will feel like a huge weight has been lifted, all this organizing but it will pay off in the end, especially if you take care of the little things.
